April 26, 2005 Airline Empires Returns from Server Fiasco with Different Address
As I'm sure you're all aware, Airline Empires has experienced a much longer down time than originally planned. The reason for this is due to domain name issues with the AirlineEmpires.com domain name, and the server perviously used. To put a long story short, the airlineempires.com domain is not transferrable to the new server, thus we had to create and use the airlineempires.net address. The game is still paused, and we are making the changes to ensure a smooth transition of all features to the new page.

The Airline Empires server will be down for a few days while we move to a new server. The game will be paused in the meantime and will resume in a few days. We are working diligently to minimize this down time.

The first round of alpha testing will be winding to a close in the next coming weeks. Whether or not to include the new aircraft database into the game once the reset has taken place has yet to be decided. The developers have been working on some elusive bugs with the new database, and we want to iron them out before releasing it to testing. Once the game is reset, it will take a few days until the game is playable again, however all players will retain their accounts. Thanx to all the testers for their patience.

The routemap has been progressing to the point where we can publish a demo. It should the route map of a random airline immediately below this text. The map uses lat/long information to place a city on the map, which incorporates projection error that is unavoidable. Some cities (such as Milwaukee) are skewed on the map, however their location is accurate in relation to the other cities. The map uses Flash, so in order to be able to see the route map, you'll need to have flash installed. To view the map, follow this link.

We have finished researching the updated aircraft database which can be found here. Each engine exhibits different performance abilities and economics for the aircraft, so be careful which engine you decide to use.
